Perungalathur residents get low-cost treated water


With the approval of the council, the reverse-osmosis treated water is sold at Rs.11 for 20 litres, much to the delight of residents.

Following the footsteps of the Mudichur village panchayat, near Tambaram, another neighbourhood local body, Perungalathur town panchayat, has started selling safe drinking water to its residents at a very low cost.

With the approval of the council, the reverse-osmosis treated water is sold at Rs.11 for 20 litres, much to the delight of residents in this suburban local body that has a number of innovative welfare schemes to its credit.

“A specially designed shed has been constructed at Parvathi Nagar in Old Perungalathur to house the equipment. We plan to provide water to at least 1,000 families on a regular basis to start with,” said town panchayat president S. Sekar..................Read more
