Textile book puts marginalized community on the global map


Hidden amongst a massive Tipu tent from the Battle of Seringapatnam, a 19th century Kashmiri shawl embroidered with a map and Bollywood designer costumes at London's Victoria and Albert Museum's India Festival is a cloth book made by the Vaghari community in Gujarat. Thanks to a two-year old project by Chennai-based publishers Tara Books, the bright red, black and white book gives a peek into the unknown tradition of cloth shrines.
