Tamil Nadu had set an onerous task of building 2.5 million houses at an outlay of Rs 75,000 crore while rolling out the Vision 2023 document four years ago.Despite constructing several thousand dwelling units since then, urban planners feel there may not be any substantial reduction in the target, because of growing population and rapid urbanization.
Going by the rate at which the state is getting urbanized, major cities may soon burst at their seams.
