For the third consecutive year, Ascendas, in association with the Tamil Nadu Handicapped Federation Charitable Trust, honoured 10 persons with disabilities for outstanding achievements in their respective fields.
On Friday, Chief Justice of the Madras High Court H.L. Gokhale presented the Ascendas Excellence Award 2009 to the achievers in the fields of arts, music, literature, academics and sports. It comprises a trophy, citation and cash prize.
In his presidential address, Mr. Gokhale said: “These individuals have made remarkable achievements by overcoming their disabilities and they have to be specially felicitated for this act. Besides, those who are encouraging such individuals, also have to be complemented. Others should learn from them to achieve their goals.”
Ajit Singh, Singapore Consul-General in Chennai, said that around 60 per cent of ethnic Indians in Singapore were of Tamil origin, while a large concentration of companies in India was from Singapore. “Ascendas is the Singapore’s iconic company in Tamil Nadu and it has been an integral partner in the growth of Tamil Nadu.”...........Click for more
