Differently-abled people in the tribal districts of Gujarat have started an advocacy programme for their right to jobs under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA).
Ram Patel, the Valsad district secretary of the National Association for the Blind, said around 1,000 Below Poverty Line (BPL) physically-challenged people in the tribal areas of Kaprada, Dharampur and Vansda are jobless. He is undertaking a survey for the physically-challenged in the district.
Patel said though frequent review meetings are conducted between the District Rural Development Authority (DRDA) for Valsad district, no physically-challenged person has been given any job NREGS yet..........Click for more
