Members of ‘Thanneer’ Environmental Club of the Cauvery College for Women took up a study on environmental protection at Pachamalai recently. They trekked a distance of about five k.m. and ascertained various fauna and flora of the area.
K. C. Neelamegam, secretary of ‘Thanneer’, said members and volunteers of ‘Thanneer’ interacted with tribal farmers and understood their lifestyle. They collected plastic waste materials from the villages on the foot of the hills. The tour provided an opportunity to the students and members to understand the availability of various herbs in the forest.
The volunteers and students visited three villages on the hills and saw the cultivation pattern and conservation of water sources in the area. Forest officials guided the students.........Read more
