With the Union government planning an official Raksha Bandhan celebration on August 29, the Bharatiya Janata Party has asked its workers to launch a vigorous campaign to convince men to gift low-cost accident and life insurance schemes of the government to their sisters.
BJP president Amit Shah gave this call at a meeting of party office-bearers and legislators from the southern States here on Sunday.
P. Muralidhar Rao, party general secretary in charge of Karnataka, told presspersons that Mr. Shah had instructed the workers to pitch the accident insurance scheme carrying a Rs. 12 premium. The life insurance cover of Rs. 330 premium should be pitched at men who could afford that sum.
