Xi Jinping, 64
Post: Party ge neral secretary , China's Presi dent and chair man of the Cen tral Military Commission Xi is widely seen as China's most powerful leader since chairman Mao Zedong.The son of a revolutionary leader, he was once viewed as a drab “princeling“ child of the elite. But since soaring to power in 2012, Xi has centralised authority under his own leadership with a signature antigraft battle. His political theory -`Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era' -was written into the Party constitution on Tuesday .
Li Keqiang, 62
Post: Premier In his role as premier, China's chief admini strator, Li has ta ken a lower pro file than his re cent predecessors. He is an economist by training, a protege of former President Hu Jintao and was once seen as a contender to lead China before being eclipsed by Xi. Li started his political career as a student leader at Peking University , where he mixed with liberal professors and students who advocated democratic reform.....Read more
