Nearly four months after dedicating a 500-MW unit in Anpara D, the Akhilesh Yadav government is set to initiate work on a new power unit of 660 MW at Harduaganj power plant in Aligarh district. Work on the unit, proposed to be constructed by Japanese major Toshiba, is likely to start by the end of this month.
This will be the first unit in the state sector proposed by the Samajwadi Party government after it stormed to power more than three years ago. The Anpara D unit, also in the state sector, was proposed during the Mayawati regime.
