117 MW solar projects become operational in Punjab


Punjab on Thursday became the first state to operationalize 117-megawatt solar power projects following inauguration of 10.50-MW solar power plant at Sangatpura village near Lehragaga town of Sangrur district. Set up by Omega Solar Projects Private Limited, the 10.50-MW plant has been developed at the cost of Rs 84 crore in 45 acres of land taken on lease by the company. Punjab renewable energy minister Bikram Singh Majithia revealed that another firm Acme Group was all set to operationalize their 100-MW solar projects in Mansa district by March 2016.
