The Kerala Women’s Development Corporation has embarked upon a novel programme to equip 1,000 women entrepreneurs with skills to deal with innovative solutions, in a variety of fields at the panchayat level. The initial phase of selection has already begun.
Women in the 21-45 age group are being selected for the programme, named Sandesh One. Those with a degree, diploma, postgraduation, or engineering qualifications are being considered, its project head, Dhanish N. Raj, told The Hindu.
The women are selected on the basis of an online test and interview. A four-month training, to be conducted by IIM, Ahmedabad, will be provided to those selected. The aspiring entrepreneurs will be assisted to seek finance for their projects. Sandesh One centres will operate in a public private participatory (PPP) model. Thirty-six women have already been selected from Alappuzha, Kollam, and Kottayam districts. The selection process in other districts is in progress, he said.............Read more
