379 colleges fill up 80%-plus BE seats


The admission season has never been so good for engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu in this decade. Self-financing colleges, some of which were struggling to attract students and were even on the brink of closure or being sold off, are getting students in droves.

"At the close of the third phase of the single window counselling for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA 2010) on Sunday, as much as 81% of the 469 engineering colleges included in the counselling managed to fill up over 80% seats in BE/BTech courses under the government quota. Such a massive admission of students is unprecedented in the annals of the single window counselling," TNEA secretary V Rhymend Uthariaraj told The Times of India.......Click for more
