The groundwater level in and around the state capital city region in Guntur district is increasing gradually. 

 

The observations recorded at Observation Wells by groundwater department in the mandals in capital region show a steep rise in the groundwater level, which is more than two metres in some villages in the month of July 2015. 

 

All the riverside villages in Tadepalli, Tullur and Mangalagiri mandals recorded rise in the levels when compared to the season and annual levels. 

 

At Mangalagiri, groundwater is available at a depth of just 0.49 metres while in Mandadam of Tullur groundwater is available at 0.84 metres depth. Rayapudi of Tullur mandal, which has groundwater at 1.22 metres depth witnessed a rise of 2.3 metres and is the highest in the region. 

 

Similarly, in other villages like Vykuntapuram, Pedaparimi, Pedavadlapudi, Nuttaki, Chirravuru and others, the groundwater is available at an average depth of less than two metres..........Read more
