NGT fines hospitals and malls in the city


Taking on record a status report of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), the National Green Tribunal has imposed a fine on some city hospitals and malls as well as their officials for failing to install rainwater harvesting systems despite orders issued earlier by the green panel.

In its status report, the DPCC said a number of five-star hotels, malls and hospitals in the Capital had not installed rainwater harvesting structures.

In several cases where they were provided, they were not operating satisfactorily, according to the report.

An NGT Bench, headed by chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar, also called through bailable warrants the representatives of some institutions who were not present in compliance with the notices issued to them earlier.
