Imagine a salesperson drinking a cupful of detergent right in front of your eyes to prove that his product was safe? Well, it was Sivaram Pillai and B Chandrasekhar's favourite trick when they used to go on sales rounds to convince clients as to the efficacy of their products. Founded in 2009, ProKlean Technologies, develops natural, non-toxic and biodegradable products for industrial cleaning purposes and as alternatives for chemicals used in the leather industry and textiles.

Sivaram Pillai, a PhD in biochemistry, comes from the stables of the Murugappa Group, where he worked for 20 years. "I was fascinated by the idea of multiple species of microbes being used.
