The forest department has set itself a target to double the population of tigers in the state by 2022. Currently, there are 190 tigers in the state.

"Forests will survive only if tigers will. So we have decided to spread awareness among people residing near tigers reserves. Without public participation, government cannot save tigers or forests," Sudhir Mungantiwar, forest minister told TOI.

"Number of tigers will be increased through breeding and proper habitat. An Eye Surveillance system will also be a part of this programme. The system will placed in Tadoba first," the minister added..............Read more
