As many as 90 illegal manual dyeing units functioning in the district without any treatment plants would be re-located to the area where the proposed Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) is to be established.

With micro, small and medium scale bleaching, dyeing and its allied units functioning in the districts of Erode, Salem, Namakkal and Karur reported to be discharging untreated effluents into River Cauvery causing pollution, the Chief Minister has last year announced setting up of CETP with Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) in these districts.
