Industrial pollution levels to be monitored online soon


Residents will be able to check the levels of pollutants released by the grossly polluting industries (GPIs) in the city online from this September.

The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has decided to digitalize the monitoring of pollutants released in air and in water by GPIs in the city. However, as far as vehicular pollution is concerned, the city has just one monitoring station to study its air, and that too in the old city.

A senior official with the HSPCB said the board has made it mandatory for all GPIs to fix an online monitoring device in their units. "The device will make it possible for the board to check the pollutants released by the unit online at an interval of 10 to 15 minutes," he said.........Read more
