The green tribunal has taken the state pollution watchdog to task for failing to explain lapses and non-compliance of its directions, especially those related to rampant pollution in Waluj MIDC area.
The tribunal has asked the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) member secretary to attend the next hearing on July 28, 2015 along with all records and also directed the officials concerned to take action against the polluting industries.
The tribunal noted "the MPCB officers are inadvertent in their action or they are keeping silence due to certain other reasons, or that they are unaware of their powers which give them sufficient powers to mandate closure of the polluting industries, besides taking remedial measures."...........Read more
