Pulled up by NGT, Indore Municipal Corporation allots 6cr for cleaning Khan river


After being pulled up by National Green Tribunal (NGT) for slow pace of work and non-allocation of fund for cleaning of Khan and Saraswati rivers, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Monday announced to allocate Rs 6 crore for the river cleaning works for this financial year. Civic body also promised to start sewerage treatment plant (STP) before Simhastha 2016.

NGT had directed divisional commissioner to hold regular meetings to supervise and monitor river cleaning works, following divisional commissioner Sanjay Dubey held a meeting and directed to remove all encroachments from river bed and its bank.

NGT, in July 23 order, had observed that there is no timeline for completion of works, now IMC is planning to complete construction of two STPs before Simhastha to treat the sewerage water before flowing into rivers................Read more
