Gobinda Ballava Dalai, an MA in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, is a man of many missions. To name one, he started the Mayurbhanj Public School, a community school initiative in his village Kanpur in 2010, targeted primarily at children from tribal and Dalit communities. Presently, there are 87 students in Classes I to V.
He has also been spearheading the Odisha Yuva Jagaran Yatra, that aims at encouraging youngsters to take up innovative enterprises through an annual nine-day yatra. He started Mission One Million — a business idea, in February 2013, to provide alternative energy at the doorsteps of rural people, an initiative where one energy entrepreneur serves a minimum of 1,000 rural households.
In a unique project called Dhool Ke Phool, Gobinda has been bringing out the latent talents in children from the slums in the city by way of arranging talent hunt shows, since 2010. His other initiatives include Yuva Vikas — an association of young entrepreneurs who join hands to bring about change in their respective fields, Gram Nirman — where he facilitates connecting urban youth to villages; Bhubaneswar Helpline a citizen portal which works as an incubation centre for businessmen, New Life Deaddiction and Rehabilitation Centre (including residential care for hard core addicts)...and the list goes on........Read more
